Where The Buffalo Roam. Ummm...or is that Bison??

A above normal January day has compelled me to venture outside. Couldn't resist capturing these wonderful beasts to digital files. These fellas quickly became a favorite subject I will soon return to see.

Note: It's actaully Bison. Both bison and buffalo belong to the same family, Bovidae, the true 'buffalo' are native only to Africa and Asia. The only two species holding that name being the Asian Water Buffalo and the African Buffalo. When looking at them they are very different.

M
I just happened upon your blog.
Brilliant.

Your photo eye is so keyed into color and balance. The action is always clean ane the stills are always emotional.

I am so very impressed.

What do you shoot with? Body, glass etc?

Thanks Brad. Glad you enjoyed my work.

My tools of the trade are my trusty Nikon D70. Just turned two years old this month. I use the 18-70mm zoom that came with the camera. I also own a Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens. Beautiful glass. I use that for most of my car shots. Or if I just want to roam around town I'll stick that on the camera and go. Very versitile. My newest addition to the family is Nikon's 80-200mm 2.8 lens. I used this recently on the buffalo and the bridge walkway shots. Love that baby! I've used the 17-55mm 2.8 lens, thanks to a very kind Nikon rep! (See Wedding shots) I'm very close to adding that one to my bag. (Droool) And my dream purchase is Nikon' D2Xs pro camera. But alas it is but a dream. One day though. Since I don't do this for a living it's hard to justify the $5,000 price tag. (Guh)
Thanks again Brad for you wonderful comments. I do this for self expression and enjoyment. To have someone else enjoy them as well, it's just icing on the cake!

Take care, Mike.

End of day is correct. I think that most of my shots are during the last few hours of the day. The best light for me. It has been very cold here. It was -50 below with wind chill the other night and it seems to want to stick around too. Brrrr
